We've got 1 engine to swap, but 2 to pull! The into picture shows the end result of a somewhat repetitive process, as the Transit Connect and the Focus ST engine bays are quite similar, with familiar connections from bay-to-bay.
Last time that we checked in, the Focus ST had been prepped for the start of the "pull" process. With just a few major mounts disconnected, we had an empty-bay!
After the pull; repeat! After removing the Transit Connect front fascia, we itemized (made a master list) of all important connections, and then proceeded with second engine pull.
Vaccar's Master Garage might have the Transit Connect engine bay looking a little lonely, but it's also ready to make a home for the Focus ST drivetrain!
Transit Connect acquired? Check. Focus ST acquired? Check, check! Nothing left to do, but dig in! Actually, we had to slow ourselves down for a moment, and take the steps to follow carefully. While we're thrilled to be the first ones to attempt the TC-ST swap, we wanted to follow some protocol. First on the lift was the Focus, and before we yanked that motor out of the engine bay, we made sure to to clearly label many of the connections and electrical - complete with corresponding list. Regardless of how confident we are with the platform, this is going to potentially save some headache later on...when it's in a entirely new engine bay.
In 2016, Aaron and Carl Vaccar attended Formula Drift in Orlando, representing the Ford Performance brand alongside an all-new Ford Focus RS and Mustang GT350. This year, Vaccar is planning to return to the Ford display, but with one of their own creations; the Blood & Grease Ford Focus ST. The action-packed event will hit florida this weekend, April 28 and 29th. For more info about the race, visit their website at www.formulad.com.
Vaccar has been invited to display one of our specialty vehicles at SeaWorld's all-new "Seven Seas Food Festival" this Spring. The event series is all about concerts, food, and fun - and now, with the added element of a custom car showcase!
Attendees can sip and simple their way around the world via the culinary marketplaces, and end the day with live performances from top country, rock and latin music artists every Saturday. In the midst of all the action, the Vaccar-designed Blood & Grease Focus ST will be 1 or 10 automotive masterpieces placed within the amusement park on the April 22nd weekend date.
2016 Ford Focus ST by Blood & Grease
“The 'Do-It-Yourself Garage' theme isn't about a physical place as much as a state of mind that we want to inspire”
The Blood & Grease Focus ST concept reigns in the spirits of traditional hot-rodding and modern tuning, blended together to visually express platform personalization across a cross-generational passion for custom car culture. Teaming up with automotive designer Vaccar, B&G wanted this project constructed in like fashion of their clothing; with premium materials, unique processes and attention to detail. A matte black exterior is accented with retro-style door graphics and hand-built translucent red wheels, stanced just right. The interior is nothing but bespoke, with a limited edition brushed metal-look steering wheel and upscale leather work. From EcoBoost to EcoBeast, the powertrain was treated to a variety of performance products coupled with one-off fabrication and tuning.
